Objective: Review and authorize time sheets submitted by your direct reports to ensure accuracy before payroll processing.
Prerequisites: You must have a Manager security role over the employee submitting time.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Access Your Inbox:
Click the My Tasks (inbox) icon on the top right of your Workday Home page.
Locate and select the task labeled Time Entry: [Worker Name].
Review the Entry:
Look at the "Entries to Approve" table to see the specific dates and hours entered.
Verify Project Time: If the "Time Type" is Project Plan Tasks, ensure the employee has selected the correct Project and Phase.
Check Comments: For project time, verify that the employee has entered a description in the Time Block Comment column. This is required for project tracking.
Take Action:
Approve: If all details (hours, project coding, comments) are correct, click the Approve button to finalize the time sheet.
Send Back: If there is an error (e.g., missing comments, wrong hours), click Send Back. You will be required to enter a reason. This routes the task back to the employee to correct and resubmit.
Deny: Click this only if necessary. This completely stops the business process. The employee cannot correct it; they must start over from scratch.
