How do I access the akashic records?

The Akashic Records, also known as the Book of Life or God's book of remembrance, contain the entire history of every soul since creation, recording every thought, deed, and activity. These records are conceptualized as an ethereal, fourth-dimensional film upon which actions and thoughts are recorded.

According to the sources, accessing these records, which are written upon the "skein of time and space," is primarily attained by achieving attunement with the Infinite.

The general methods recommended for accessing the Akashic Records, or the Universal Consciousness they reflect, rely on developing one's spiritual and psychic faculties:

1. Spiritual Development and Meditation

The ability to read the Akashic Records is seen as a natural function of the soul. This function is closely linked to aligning oneself with the Creative Forces through spiritual practice.

  • Meditation is crucial, defined as emptying the self of all that hinders the creative forces from rising, and actively engaging in the "attuning of the mental body and the physical body to its spiritual source".
  • The conscious mind must be voluntarily "subjugated" (laid aside) during this process, allowing the subconscious and superconscious minds-the mind of the soul-to access universal knowledge.
  • This practice enables one to loose the physical consciousness to the Universal Consciousness.
  • To prepare for successful spiritual contact, one must set a spiritual ideal (such as love, service, or kindness) and maintain this purpose in all thoughts and deeds. One must approach this endeavor with a desire to live selflessly, dedicating their life as a channel for service to others.
  • During meditation, focus your mind on your ideal, close off fleshly desires, and concentrate on aligning your will with the Divine purpose (e.g., meditating upon "Thy will with me").
  • Deep meditation can raise the kundaline forces in the body to the "third eye," potentially allowing one to become a seeress capable of seeing the past and future. However, there is a warning that this power must be used only for constructive and never for selfish motives, or it will bring harm.

2. Dreams and Intuition

The subconscious is constantly working, making access to the universal record possible through dreams and intuition.

  • Dreams are considered a primary pathway for psychic experience, serving as a language through which the subconscious and superconscious minds communicate insights, guidance, and information, including glimpses of past lives.
  • One can purposefully focus on specific questions before falling asleep to gain dream guidance.
  • The intuitive force (the "still small voice from within") is the preferable means for receiving guidance, as it is derived from the spiritual core of the self.

3. Warnings and Alternative Channels

The sources include warnings against seeking information through intermediaries or methods that promote external dependence:

  • Reliance on others for guidance is discouraged; true answers must come from within oneself.
  • Automatic writing or seeking direction from disincarnate entities or spirits is questionable. It is safer to rely on the voice within, surrounding oneself with the consciousness of the Christ, because following external spirits can be detrimental and misleading.
  • Hypnosis or self-hypnosis carries a risk. While Edgar Cayce utilized a form of self-induced trance to retrieve information, the general seeker is warned that this may lead to subjugation of the mind by outside, lower influences or personalities rather than the highest source.
