jumbo frames

A setting on Ethernet network devices that allows the creation and transmission of extra-large frames, as high as 9198 bytes, depending on the type of Ethernet architecture used.

Jumbo Frame Jumbo frames are Ethernet frames with more than 1,500 bytes of payload.
Jumbo frames or 9,000-byte payload frames have the potential to reduce overhead and CPU cycles. In high-speed networks such as those typically used in a SAN, it may be advisable to enable jumbo frames to improve performance.
